C-Space+Local is pleased to present Taiwanese artist Yahon Chang’s first solo exhibition in Beijing, Poetry of the Flow II, curated by Maria Rus Bojan, 16 December 2018 – 20 January 2019. On view are large-scale gestural ink paintings on fabric created on-site at the gallery in the week preceding the show and new figurative explorations in the medium of clay.
Immersing himself in the history and energy of Beijing, Chang is using the gallery as a studio from 8 – 12 December. Open to the public daily from 4-6pm to invite cross-cultural dialogue and view artistic process, the artist creates an interactive environment, tackling philosophical, spiritual and existential issues that revolve around the city’s cultural backdrop.
Exploring painting as performance, Chang uses elements from classical Chinese calligraphy and ink painting combined with Western expressionism in a highly physical and performative manner to create his own aesthetic.
